We are helping create more efficient, safer and smarter transport for people, communities and businesses.
Over time, IoT technologies have the potential to transform industry, public services and many aspects of people’s daily lives. At the same time, the automotive industry is facing new challenges. Manufacturers, dealers, insurers and service providers are looking for new ways to control costs, comply with new regulations and improve the driving experience.
In 2018, more than half of all cars sold came with connectivity built in. Connected car services provide competitive advantage to manufacturers and an increasing number of countries require manufacturers to build in connected safety features.
Our 2025 goal
We will offer state-of-the-art electronics and telematics products for vehicle manufacturers and after-market service providers. Creating more efficient, safer and smarter transport for people, communities and businesses.
Automotive – stolen vehicle recovery, crash alerts, automated breakdown calls and mobile apps for smarter transport that is safer and more secure.
Insurance – in-car telematics to monitor driver behaviour, usage-based insurance for more accurate insurance premiums, crash reconstruction/alerts and automated emergency calling for smarter transport that is safer for everyone.
Transport Fleet & Logistics – improved vehicle management and monitoring for businesses including support and diagnostics, as well as driving style monitoring which improves efficiency and reduces carbon emissions.
This year we grew the number of connected vehicles we serve from 25 million to 31 million.
For all fleet operators, the cost of fuel is critical to the bottom line and any improvement in fuel efficiency, however small, can help reduce costs and consequently overall emissions.

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Our commitments to enable our customers to reduce their GHG emissions particularly support SDG 13, which is focused on climate action. Our approach also supports SDG 3, which includes a target to reduce the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents.
We believe we can have the greatest impact on five of the UN SDGs through our networks, products and services and through the work of the Vodafone Foundation.
